With every check-in, I have to ask the guest what kind of credit card they will be using. The guests hear this as me asking for the card and try to hand it to me. It is awkward and a waste of time. Other businesses don't need to ask this before taking payment. If I type in the wrong code, the system knows and stops the transaction. Could we please eliminate this step? If anyone else knows how to work around this, please let me know.
Brian, thank you very much. This is great to learn!
When checking in a guest, if you select the Get Approval during the checkin, you are not prompted to select the credit card type/account number. If you are using the EMV device to chip/tap a card to charge a deposit on the reservation or folio using RMPayments, you can enter any credit card account code and based on the card type the guest uses, it will be adjusted automatically. For example, if you enter account code 202 (Visa/MC) and the guest inserts an American Express, the account code will adjust to 204 automatically.
