Sign on screen focus issue

When presented with the sign on screen I need to click in the user field 2 or 3 times before I can enter an ID. As this is a 'sign-on' screen, why not shift the focus automatically to the place needed?

    Besides lack of screen focus, once cursor is on the ID window its necessary to click 3 times before ability to type. Please fix this.
