Since moving to the cloud, our cash drawer no longer works. The client accessing the RDP does not map local ports. However, having researched the client used by roomMaster cloud extensively, we have noted that it is possible to map these ports both in the HTML5 and Application variants.
We can no longer accept CASH as we have no way of opening the cash drawer to give change.
Not good enough!
For those of you who use a cash drawer, and are no longer able to trigger the drawer to open from roomMaster when accepting Cash, here is a work around for the time being. Not ideal. But, at least we can open the drawer.
Create a directory to store a small batch file (or use the root directory if you want)
Capture Ctrl+G to a batch file (I used openCD.bat)
Edit the batch file so that it sends Ctrl+G to the desired COM port.
Create a short cut to the batch file, and change the icon if you wish (I downloaded an icon, opened it in GIMP, and exported it as a Microsoft Windows Icon)
Pin the shortcut to the taskbar (in our case, we only use Edge for roomMaster, so I changed the Edge icon to the roomMaster one found in C:\iQ Cloud Launcher V2\images, and placed the two shortcuts alongside one another on the taskbar)
To open the cash drawer, simply click on the shortcut on the taskbar.
I have provided the Aussie short team with visual images of the steps in case anyone needs them..
Offer the Remote App client as an option. It will fix this issue, and likely many others, including printing performance.
